Changing Text

♥ CHANGING THE TEXT CONTENT

When opening the file there will be pieces of default text. You will probably want to change these pieces of text to a text that is more suitable for your business and needs. This is how you go about:

1. select the layer of text that you want to work on by clicking on it
2. you will see that that particular part of text gets a selection border around it

3. now click the little 'T' icon at the left side of the screen
4. and put your cursor inside the piece of text that needs change

5. now remove the demonstration text and type in your own
6. save it by clicking on the little 'place' icon at the left side of screen

♥ CHANGING THE TEXT COLOR

You can easily change the color of the text by:

1. clicking the little 'T' icon again at the left side of screen and selecting the full piece of text that needs a color change
2. then click on the 'change color' button at the top of the screen
3. a small pop up screen will open where you can select any color you like - just move your cursor over the color screen
4. once a color is chosen make sure to save it

If the piece of text that you are working on in the design has a golden color or a watercolor effect to it, then this effect is caused by a golden texture or watercolor texture layer behind the text. If you want to remove the gold or watercolor effect, just click on the little eye icon in front of that texture layer. This will disable it. Now select the text layer itself and change the color as described above.

♥ OTHER TEXT EDIT OPTIONS

Besides changing the text color, you might want to change other things about the text, like the size of the font, the spacing between letters to stretch out words, the line height etc. These options can be accessed this way:

1. again, select the little 'T' icon on the left side of screen and select the part of text that needs a new makeup
2. then click the 'text makeup' icon
3. a little pop up screen will appear with lots of options to change your text

4. let's take a closer look at some of the options:

Options that can be used are highlighted in white, while options that are not available for that particular type of font have a more greyish color.

♥ USING SWASHES & GLYPHS OF CERTAIN FONTS

Some of the calligraphy style fonts come with beautiful glyphs or swashes. Each letter or some letters of such a font give you the option to display it with a curl or in a decorative way. You can see if your font has these options by accessing the glyph option of the font. This can be done in two ways:

1. the best way is to see per letter if you can access glyphs, but this option is only available on the newer versions of Adobe photoshop - select a letter of choice
2. when this letter has a glyph option you will see a dotted area appear under the black selected area of the letter

3. hover over the dotted area with your mouse
4. you will see a small pop up screen with glyph options for this particular letter
5. select the option of your choice

6. if you have an older version of Adobe Photoshop you might want to try this way to access curls and swashes: select a piece of text (a whole word, sentence or a letter)
7. then click on the 'text makeup' icon
8. and see if any options light up in the 'extra option line' - try out the highlighted options to see how they affect your text
